Ultimate Steer Toss *
Definitely a crowd favorite! This event is also called “chute doggin’”. In this event participants are timed on how long it takes them to lay a steer down on its side. Participants start in the official rodeo buckin’ chute with their steer, when the chute opens the participant has 30 seconds to try and get that steer down on its side with all 4 feet off the ground. Don’t worry, there will be a demonstration and plenty of coaches to help you understand what to do. Come on, you know you want to try it!
Team Sorting *
We run this event similar to regular sorting except you and your partner will be on foot. You job is to get as many of the animals (steers or goats) as you can across the line in one minute. The hard part of this competition is you have to get them across in the correct number order. Let one through across the line in the wrong order and you will get a no time! Event is run in teams of 2 in two age divisions. Both team members must be in the same age division. Ages 12 to 15 and 16 to 19. Grab a friend and come on down for a chance at one of 4 beautiful custom champion buckles with the Roots N’ Boots logo on them.
Rollin’ Relay *
Have you ever wondered how heavy those tractor tires are? Now is your chance to find out! In this event teams of 4 will race against each other to move their tractor tire back and forth across the arena. All ages 12 to 19 are invited to participate together….only catch…at least one member of your team must be a girl! Go out and make some new friends forming a team at the starting line for this fun event. Heat winners and Grand Champion team prizes mean lots of things to win at this event.
Pork Scramble *
Back by popular demand! Come on out and see if you are fast enough to catch that slippery pig! Individual event with all ages 12 to 19 competing against each other. Spaces for this event are limited so listen for the gate calls to make sure you get in on the action.
Chicken Challenge *
One of our funniest events to watch! All we can say is the event involves a team of two, a crazy chicken and a wheelbarrow. You have to come out and experience it for yourself! All ages 12 to 19 can participate together (hint….great event for one younger/ older partner or one big/ one small partner!)
Piggy Back Hustle *
Barrel racing with a twist! One partner is the “horse” and one is the “rider”. Each team competes piggy back style on our traditional barrel pattern. Fastest team wins the heat and a prize…winners of the heats get into the finals round to compete for the grand prizes. Event open to partners of all ages 12 to 19. Teams often form at the starting line so don’t worry if you arrive without a partner!
