Roots N Boots Queen Creek’s Kids N’ Kritters (KnK) offers plenty of events for kids to participate in.
KnK is Saturday, March 15
General
Kids N’ Kritters gives kids ages 3-11 the chance to have western themed fun, with as much direct animal participation as they (and their parents) are comfortable with. Kids N’ Kritters is ONLY held on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The Kids N’ Kritters Free event, sponsored by Ruggiero’s Ace Hardware & Feed, is held in the covered arena on Saturday morning. Participants will have a variety of activities to choose from as they rotate through the arena.
All participants must complete a waiver and wear an official back number just like real rodeo participants.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. We will get started at 8:30a.m. with our flag presentation, National Anthem singer and announcements. Then, all the fun will begin immediately following.
Please bring signed waivers (links at the bottom) with you to speed up the registration process.
Livestock is provided with a generous donation from Ruggiero’s Ace Hardware & Feed.
Prizes and equipment for this event are sponsored by Justin Boots.
Mutton Bustin'
As with all Kids N’ Kritters events, Mutton Bustin’ registration is first come/first served on Saturday morning. Registration starts at 7:30a.m.
Mutton Bustin’ is limited to the first 150 riders to register.
Kids must be 55lbs or less and have both the minor participation waiver and the Mutton Bustin’ waiver signed by their appropriate parent or guardian.
We require each rider wear the helmet and vest that we provide.
Stick Horse Barrel Race
Kids can have some fun racing against each other in the stick horse barrel race. Great prizes and fun for all in this event. Kids are placed with like-aged competitors, select their “horse” and have some fun racing around the actual barrels used at the PRCA event.
Dash for Cash
In this race, kids grab some real cash and brownie or chocolate chip cookie coupons donated by Chick-Fil-A in Queen Creek. The fun part is these prizes are all attached to a herd of goats. Kids enter the arena area in small groups to chase the goats and grab a prize.
Please be patient at this station as rest periods will happen at times for the health and safety of our participating goats.
Learn to Rope
At this station, our volunteers will help the kids coil and throw a real cowboy rope around our practice “bulls”. Kids of all ages love learning to rope like a cowboy or cowgirl. Give it a try and win a prize.
Clownin’ Around Sack Race
A rodeo twist on sack racing. Here the kids race out to their Rodeo Clown attire, dress as fast as they can in these funny clothes. After dressing, they jump back into their sack and race to the finish. Fun opportunity for pictures and videos to share with your family and friends. Kids will be grouped with those of like ages to keep the competition fair.
Chicken Egg and Spoon Race
In this race, kids will be matched with like-age competitors. This activity begins with grabbing an egg from the “chicken coop” and balancing it on their spoon and crossing the finish line to win a prize. But be careful not to drop the egg!
Rodeo Queen Meet and Greet
Meet the cowgirls and their horses that run the flags and hot laps during the rodeo and get their autographs! This is a great photo opportunity to share with family and friends and a chance to pet an actual horse that runs on the PRCA rodeo.
Kiss The Pig
At this station, kids can kiss and pet a friendly pot-bellied pig and win a prize.
