Our Most Prized Possessions
Any good cowgirl or cowboy would argue that the most important factor in rodeo is our stock. No matter your event, without good calves, steers, horses and bulls, you would not be successful. These animals are our most prized possessions and play a major role in our lifestyle.
When you come out to cheer on the cowboys at the Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek you will see them riding the powerful stock of Salt River Rodeo Company! These animals are bred, raised and trained to be the best in the industry and we are very fortunate to have them at our rodeo each year.
The Salt River Rodeo Company has a deep history in rodeo, which has lead to them being one of the best in the business. Their general manager, Jerry Dorenkamp, has been a PRCA member since 1979 and at one time was among the best steer wrestlers in the world. When his career as a competitor ended due to injury, Jerry turned towards the production side of rodeo. For the next 17 years, he became a livestock superintendent for some of the top ranked rodeos like Houston and San Antonio, and was even a flankman at the WNFR for 20 years. For the past 18 years, Jerry and his wife have dedicated their time to mastering their breeding program, acknowledging that “good horses and bulls are athletes that love what they do”.
The Salt River Rodeo Company puts endless time and effort into raising healthy, happy and successful stock. They have had numerous animals buck at the Wrangler National Finals and hold pride in the stock they produce. We are so excited to have their horses and bulls at the Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek this year!
